4×4 2048 boards — the classic size

The 4×4 board is 2048 in its original form: sixteen squares, the classic pace, and the tile-merging puzzle that started it all. Each numbered board here begins from a fixed, reproducible spawn sequence, so board #42 always plays out the same way for everyone. Work through them in order or jump to any number — every board is free and instantly playable, with undo enabled.

4×4 FAQ

Is the 4×4 puzzle library the same as playing regular 2048?

Yes. The 4×4 grid is the classic 2048 size, and the puzzle library plays by the exact same rules — slide, merge, and build toward 2048. The only difference is that each of the 300 boards starts from a fixed, reproducible spawn sequence instead of a random one, so board #42 always deals the same tiles for everyone, and each board keeps a simple one-step undo.

How many 4×4 boards are in the library?

There are 300 numbered 4×4 boards, each independent and replayable as many times as you like. Together with the 5×5 and 3×3 libraries, that's 900 free boards across the whole site.

Do I still need to build a 2048 tile to win on these boards?

Yes. The win condition is identical to every other 4×4 game on the site: build a 2048 tile to trigger the win, then keep playing for 4096, 8192, and beyond, or start a fresh board.

Can I undo a move on a 4×4 puzzle board?

Yes, each library board keeps a simple one-step undo — the Undo button, the U key, or Ctrl+Z — separate from the multi-use Undo power-up in Standard mode.
